Punjab: State transport buses to run from tomorrow

Beginning this Wednesday, Punjab is set to reintroduce State Transport Undertaking buses on designated routes connecting major cities and district headquarters. These buses will operate at 50% capacity, implementing social distancing measures to ensure the safety of passengers. Transport Minister Razia Sultana emphasized that the buses will commence their journeys from designated bus stands, with mandatory passenger screening in place before boarding.

The Transport Department is unwavering in its commitment to strictly uphold COVID-19 health and hygiene protocols throughout the bus services and other modes of transportation. Passengers are required to wear masks, and their hands will be sanitized using hand sanitizers as an additional safety measure. Notably, these buses are restricted to operating exclusively in non-containment zones, aligning with the ongoing efforts to manage and contain the spread of the virus.

This decision reflects a careful and balanced approach to the resumption of public transport services, ensuring that essential travel remains accessible while prioritizing the health and safety of both passengers and the broader community.
